Scaffolding encapsulated Grove Rd this week to enable the application of external insulation and render as work commences on site. Next week demolitions will begin.
Having specified a Permarock system for the external insulation/render at Grove Road, bere:architects are in the process of exploring an alternative as suggested by the contractor. The proposed Permarock system is a very efficient system with low thermal conductivity (lambda value), however, it has been suggested by the contractor that a system produced by Weber may, in this instance, be cheaper. It is vital that costs are kept to a minimum on these retrofit projects if housing associations are going to consider implementing such works on a larger scale. This said, we are awaiting further detail on the Weber system to check that it is of an acceptable specification for this project and we will post our decision in a subsequent post.
